Past Masters Honored

Several Past Masters, family, friends, Lodge Officers and Brothers attended our Past Masters Honor Night on Saturday, August 20th. We began the evening with a dinner at 6:00 PM, followed by the open meeting at 7:00 PM. After calling the open meeting to order, Worshipful Master William R. Cady related some information about the beginning of River Oaks Lodge, the responsibilities of the Worshipful Masters and how good leadership and support of the members has played a major role in current status of the Lodge. Worshipful Master Cady praised the Past Masters for their dedication to Masonry and their continued support of the Lodge.

The Past masters who attended the event were: Gene A. Smith, Marvin McMullen, Bob Yeaman, Herman Earwood, J. T. Cockerham, Gayle Brown, Joe Morley, Ray Lewis, Odell Mayo, Joe Palmer, and Dwayne Sullivan.

We had a Succesful Blood Drive!

Thanks to the brethren who helped with our ‘Gift of Life’ Blood Drive for the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital on Saturday, September 22nd. Several of our Brethren helped as well as some unexpected help from some of the surrounding businesses in the shoppoing center where we were located. Even people that were just driving down the highway, saw our signs and the  Carter BloodCare bus, decided to stop and donate blood. We had 25 registered donors and 18 pints collected.  “IT WAS A SUCCESS”. You never know when you or someone you love might need blood.  We are planning our next blood drive and are looking at potential dates this coming spring; hopefully at the same location as this year.  Hope you can join us and donate blood or help out with this very worthy project. Of course we have several Brethren who either live out of state or live too far to drive in, we encourage you to participate at a local blood drive for a Lodge near you or see if they would consider starting one if they have none. If they need assistance in starting a blood drive, have them contact our Senior Warden, Brother Shannon Crowson, who will see that they get what they need to start.

“The Rose Upon The Altar”

The Julian Field Players presented “The Rose Upon the Altar”, a Masonic play by  Carl H. Claudy, on Saturday, October 24, 2005, at our Lodge. We began the evening with a dinner of  spaghetti, salad, toast, and desserts.  Our attendance was excellent with 45 - 50 Brothers, guests and other visitors coming together to share in fellowship of the meal and enjoy the play. If you have never seen the play, you should plan to see it if it is presented at a Lodge near you, or request it to be presented.
